Lightsource bp and Meta have entered into a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) to support the 172-megawatt Mowata Solar project in Acadia Parish, Louisiana. This PPA will add new generation capacity to the local grid, further demonstrating Meta's commitment to expanding energy capacity in its operational regions.

This announcement marks another solar PPA between Lightsource bp and Meta. In 2022, Meta signed a long-term PPA for power from the 134 MW Arche Solar Project located in the town of Gorham, Ohio.

"We are committed to ensuring that communities and grid infrastructure in Louisiana benefit from our presence. Partnering with Lightsource bp to bring 150 MWAC of new solar capacity online through Mowata Solar is a significant step—it enhances local grid generation and supports the economic growth of Acadia Parish. We are proud to contribute to a more resilient and energy-secure Louisiana," said Amanda Yang, Director of Clean and Renewable Energy at Meta.

Lightsource bp is investing $237 million in Mowata Solar's energy infrastructure in Louisiana, creating hundreds of construction jobs and delivering lasting economic benefits to the Acadia Parish. This partnership demonstrates how renewable energy supports technological innovation and drives meaningful economic growth across Helena's communities," said Emilie Wangerman, Chief Operating Officer and U.S. Head of Lightsource bp.

The construction of Mowata Solar is expected to commence later this year, with an anticipated creation of 250-350 jobs.

Lightsource bp believes that successful projects begin with building strong community partnerships. In 2025, Lightsource bp provided an initial investment of $400,000 to the Arcadia Parish Industrial Development Committee as part of its commitment to the community's interests in the area. The Arcadia Parish Industrial Development Committee supports investments in local education and infrastructure.
